Anodized Titanium Care & Cleaning
Anodized titanium provides a color finish that will not fade or dull over time, but it is susceptible to fingerprints and oils that can distort the color, as well as abrasion that can wear away the color-generating oxide layer formed during the anodizing process. Although scratches are fairly inevitable through regular bike use, adding frame and component protection films can help prevent extensive scratching and premature wear.

Because the colors of your anodized finish are based on the thickness of the titanium oxide layer and its influence on the “thin-film effect” — check out the science section — fingerprints, oils, and grease can shift or dull the color of the finish. To clean your anodized Ti frame or components and restore the original color and luster of your finish, first remove any large pieces of dirt and grease with an alkaline cleaner, such as Simple Green, which will help remove grease and oils, including fingerprints. Once clean, rinse with distilled water to leave your bike bright and colorful again.
